    Mesh for Tarp Snakeskin material?

I am thinking about buying some sturdy mesh like the kind athletic bags use to sew up some snakeskins for my tarp. Has anyone else done this? or can anyone think of a reason not to use mesh?

My thoughts are that it would allow my tarp to dry while stored. I could just lash it to my pack and let it dry while I'm hiking.

Send PM to Perkolady. She makes snakeskins out of netting. She may have an opinion on what type of material works best.

I made mine out of mosquito netting and really like the mesh ......
Your tarp won't totally dry out but it wont in a silnylon or rip-stop either.
Use what ya' got feller. Mesh is a right goodie!

The theory is great.. but think about this... You go to the laundromat and wash you clothes. You run out of money halfway through the dryer cycle so the clothes are still wet. You stuff them into your mesh laundry bag and cart them home. How likely is it that the clothes will dry stuffed into the mesh laundry bag. I think the idea of mesh reptilian derma layers is fine. They would pack down nice and small and there would be _some_ drying allowed. But I am not convinced the practice of drying your tarp stuffed into them is promising.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I got a boat load of green mesh at Joann's for $.50/yd., it doesn't quite look like screening, but close and I use it, not so much for drying, but it is light and I can see which tarp I am looking at etc. There was a nice design on here a while back for python wraps that included a pocket on each end for rope. I have used it with great success.

I just use regular old noseeum netting. The reason I use that isn't so much for drying the tarp, but because it's lightweight. With the tarp all rolled up/bunched up in there, it really doesn't dry.

I've been using mine for a while now and even though they are made from netting, they're really holding up way better than I thought they would, given the netting's fragile nature.

    Question One more snakeskin question

those of you who use snakeskins, how do you pack your hammock whilst it is in the skins? Do you strap it to the outside of your pack like extra rope? Do you just coil it up in the top of your pack???

Too sexy for your tarp!!!!! I don't recall that lyric in the song.

The ladies at JoAnn's always inquire as to what I am making. They are absolutely intrigued. When I said "snakeskins" , their alarmed expressions made me realize that explanation was necessary.
