Just a side note for those who do not want to play the first come-first serve roulette game, sites in the B-loop are reservable ahead of time. I did this last year just to make sure there'd be enough space. It works for me...but I also know I'm only not coming if it involves loss of life.

Here's a rundown of the B-sites nearest to the A group:
B25 - Some trees. 2 hammocks wouldn't be an issue, three could be creatively done. Site is shallow and backs up to horseshoe pits.
B24 - adjacent to the bath house. Almost 0 trees to hang from. Very small site.
B22/23 -"Joined" sites for all intents and purposes. Decent trees. 2-3 hammocks per site, but individually the sites could be awkward unless you like your neighbor.
B21 - Deep with good trees. Backs up to horsehoe pits. 3+ hammocks
B20 - Also deep with good trees. 3-4 hammocks
B19 - very deep with plenty of trees. 4-5 hammocks without issue

Note the hammock estimates are based on trees, not the rules.

B-21 happens to already be reserved by yours truly though.

That being said, there's never actually been a lack of space. I'm just a nervous nelly.

All ages. Last year we had mostly middle school age kids and up for those who came with their kids. I myself went solo.

This is what the Prince William Forest Web site currently states about reservations.

    Oak Ridge Campground
Campers are charged antrance fee. Valid national park passes accepted. Oak Ridge Campground is a 100-site campground with bathrooms, grills, picnic tables, and drive-up campsites. Both tents and RVs are welcome in Oak Ridge Campground, though there are no hook-ups for RVs and length restrictions exist. Leashed pets are welcome. Reservations are required for B and C Loop campsites in Oak Ridge Campground from late April to October 31. Make a reservation today on Recreation.gov. A-Loop is first come, first serve March through November. The campground is open March 1 to November 30.

I dont know if that means you CAN make reservations, but they aren’t required after Oct 31.

I can speak for them being necessary. They very well aren’t. I can guarantee that as of this morning, you can reserve the B loop sites.

That or the park service just scammed me.

I might be bringing my 6yo daughter with me if she doesn't have : cheer, swim lessons, a Girl Scout event, gymnastics or dance classes. Although, now that I bought my wife her own Burrow and hammock it's been slightly easier to get her to camp/hang with me, but I'm not holding my breath on her coming since its in November and doesn't include 4 solid walls or a shingled roof lol.

Jimbo, can you add me to the list it's not letting me do it for some reason. Name ~ Marshall , arriving mid-day friday , 2 maybes, lots of extra synthetic and down quilts , 2 tarps and 3 hammocks to share ,Chesapeake on the name tag and in the last column you can put that I promise I'll leave the bad luck at home so it's safe to hang next to me lol. Also, I will bring the coffee and percolating coffee pot. This is my favorite hang, can't wait!
