Spinntex (or Spinn for short) and Polymax and other brands used for making spinnaker sails are types of polyester ripstop and are sold by a variety of sail and kite builder retailers.

Thru-Hiker sometimes carries high quality poly ripstop.

Mountain Laurel Designs uses a fabric called Spintex EXP which they tested as being the best of 75 spinn fabrics they field tested; but I don't know where to buy it... I'd be interested in knowing too!

PS - Just made a small diamond tarp out of this. I plan to use it as a regular light duty tarp. I'm in Southern California and we don't get a lot of rain, so I mainly need a tarp for shade and to keep some of the morning dew at bay...

    poly camo

Vermont Barre Army Navy has a great selection of camo materials. The link here might be what you are looking for. The prices can't be beat. Lots of other good stuff too.

Well, I gave Rockywoods a call, and they don't have any. It's not a fabric that they continually order. So, there's no telling when they'll get more in.

I also called vtarmynavy, and stuff is in the 6-8oz/sq yd range. Too heavy.

I just really want to make a light weight bridge hammock, and I cant find the light polyester anywhere.

If nothing turns up, I guess I'll just have to suffer with a little more shoulder squeeze with the nylon Oh well, I guess it's not the end of the world. I'll just make another one when some 1.9oz poly turns up.
    Everybody wang chung tonight!
