Does anyone have experience in any campgrounds in Connecticut? Also looking for a couple of short day hikes with scenery.

I've only hiked the AT around Bull's Bridge and Schaghticoke Mountain. There's a really nice campsite where Ten Mile River and the Housatonic River intersect. Further on up the trail is a campsite at Schaghticoke Mountain. I enjoyed both of them, but it was out of season. In other words, nobody was there.
I have no idea how crowded they are in season (very crowded, I suspect).

Housatonic Meadows will give you access to Pine Knob Loop, the AT and even the Mohawk Trail (the old AT).

Thanks everyone. Postponing my trip since we have a state of emergency in VA.
My family lives in CT so if people have more suggestions, feel free to add them for future reference.

I think @justkim and @gogrillz are in CT. (Is that how you tag people here?)
I just moved back to CT (years in Midwest) and would love some good tips or routes for day or 1-2 night hikes. Would be interested in meeting others that want to get out for a day or two. I’m near the Mattatuck State Forest about 45 mins south of Hartford but haven’t had a chance to explore it (or anything) yet.

I'm have been looking at some maps of the New England Trail. Never been on any of those trails myself. The trail runs 200 or so miles from Guilford CT north to Mount Tom in MA. Some sections should be close to Hartford. Not sure on the spelling but it should mostly be the Mettacomet and Mettabasset trails. I'm going to try and do a section the end of October. The trail follows the CT Valley which is mostly traprock ridges. In the fall it is a major migration route for raptors and songbirds. I'm from Stonington CT in the southeast corner.

Hey, i just a did a small piece in connecticut on the AT that was pretty awesome. i think from wherever 41 is through to Race Brook Falls in MA. the hike was very nice, great views of the valley (i think) and it crosses over the highest point in CT.
i don't hike very fast but if you ever wanted to meet up somewhere, i'm open to that. just let me know in advance. also, i don't have a hammock yet - i'm in the process of getting my blackbird set up back together.
