I have gone to 25 degrees using a torso length 35 in wide closed cell pad with a full length thermarest prolight and was plenty warm

I agree with Knotty-the HH SS won't hold a pad on its own. It is designed to be loose so that clothing or leaves can be added.

However, I see no reason why shock cord couldn't be attached to a CCF pad if you didn't want to use Hennessy's pad. But, Hennessy's pad is concave which increases the contact area when compared to a flatter, stiffer, CCF pad. If you had an inflatable pad, and only partially inflated it, it might do well, but would also be heavier than the Hennessy pad.
