    Triangle thingies and quilt hooks

I ordered a WL summer underquilt. Is it worth getting any extra harware to hang it with? I plan on using it on a Dutch half zip. Thanks Dug

I wouldn’t think so. My WL summer under quilt fits quite well on my SLD Trail Lair, and keeps me warm to the lower 40s. I do use quilt hooks when using my 20 degree 3/4 length HG Phoenix to snug up the sides some, but IMO the under quilt suspension hardware isn’t as critical for summer quilts.

I like UQ hooks to eliminate those times when you wake up chilly and see the UQ next to you instead of under you. Cheap and light.

The half zipped has hooks on the side to keep the quilt in place. You should be fine.

Sounds like I will be good to go then. I'm anxious to get home and try out my new quilts. I work a month on and then have a month off. Just trying to make sure I have everthing I need for when I get home.

Never liked hooks. But what I do use of my narrow full length quilts is thin shock cord that connects light foot portion of the uq, over the ridgeline to the left side of the uq near my shoulder. Keep it from wandering on me.

I like triangle thingies on 3/4 quilts just to keep them snugger

Whatís the difference between tie outs and UQ hooks? My Raven has ties outs, but they donít currently line up with the grosgrain loops on the New River UQ I bought off the forums.

I assume UQ hooks are just higher up toward the suspension?

I have a WL ss quilt same as you, I got it this about a month ago. Marty said I wouldn't need any other bling to hang it and he was right, it's snug up under me without any thing else except the suspension it came with.

Typically, when a vendor adds UQ hooks, they are relatively close to the ends of the hammock, a foot or so, maybe a bit more. Sometimes there is an additional hook at the spot about where your shoulder is to bring the UQ up to the edge of the hammock fabric there. Sometimes that hook is one of the hooks used for the tie-outs. The tie-outs, if they exist, are intended to pull the loose fabric and netting away from the occupant. If you use any form of shoulder hook, be sure to hook up on only one side o that you do not damage the UQ. With some UQs, particularly 3/4 length ones, some folks pull the foot end over on the side opposite the shoulder.

Don't know anything about your specific UQ.
