My main reason for looking at the HH is because I have a gift card for Bass Pro or REI... plus REI is having a 20% labor day sale... so I might try the HH Explorer. Do you think that would work? I don't want to break the bank to get into it. I only go camping a couple of times a year for a few nights.

If I was looking at a cost effective 3/4 quilt it would be an Arrowhead Equipment Jarbidge for synthetic, or a Wilderness Logics Budget 3/4 for down. For full length is would be AHE New River for synthetic. Down would be Wilderness Logics Budget full length, Hammock Gear Econ Series, or Loco Libre Saver Series.

does that allow you to lay diagonal in the hammock?
Yes, I own 4 of the Jarbriges and have used them on a variety of hammocks.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I've got a HH and the Hammock Gear Econ 30 underquilt and love it. $150 well spent.

The Expedition's length was always a bit short for me. Over the couple of years that I used it I certainly slept well in it many times. I wouldn't call it UNcomfortable at all, just not as comfortable as my longer 11 footer made of a lighter material. The main thing was finding the sweet spot. With the Expedition I always knew when I hit it because after scooching around, moving left or right, up towards the head end or down towards the foot end, suddenly I'd hit a spot that just felt right. Don't be afraid to move around in the thing. It can make a difference.

If it's any help, I'll attempt to attach a photo showing my hang from a few years ago. This was a particularly comfortable night, not sure why other than the angle, as measured by me, was almost exactly 30 degrees. It didn't hurt that the temperature that night was about 60 and I was right beside a nice creek.

At your height the Explorer might be a better fit, but comfort is so personal that you might just fall in love with the Expedition too. Won't know until you try (and maybe not even then as many of us keep searching for the perfect hammock).

I can vouch for the hammock gear Econ. I have the 40 degree version and will be buying the 0 degree version very soon.

The Snugpak UQ is exactly what your looking for : inexpensive, fits a Henessey and rated to 32°. Here's the vid I did showing how I modified mine : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6F79IZtGJE. The side pullouts of the Henessey Hammocks line up perfectly with the asym grosgrain loops on the sides of the UQ , which will keep it locked in place so it doesn't shift during the night and will keep it pulled out with the hammock creating more room inside. I've had mine for 3 years now and never had any issues with it. I personally think it's one of the best budget UQ's you can get and at that price range your be hard pressed to find another that will get you down to 32° and be as well made. For car camping on a budget, it's #1 in my book.

I got a Simply Light Design Trail Lair hammock last year and it is an absolutely amazing hammock for the money. I initially was looking at a HH and am so glad the folks on here convinced me to look at a SLD Trail Lair. Amazing hammock for the price. I am 6 ' and the Trail Lair had a ton of room.

The Potomac by Arrowhead Equipment is built for Hennessey Hammocks, in fact, it was the first synthetic built for them and is what started the Kick *** quilt line back in the day.

The three season will get you to 25° and the four season to about 0°; I'm not sure how cold it gets in New Hampshire in October.

Again, this quilt is built for the Hennessey line, no mods needed.
