    Honey Hill Recreation Area

Myself and Hikingshoes went out for an overnighter last night. He's testing gear and finalizing his setup for an AT hike this spring. I just needed to get away for a night, burn some wood and warm some sausages.

Pictures below. No big trip report. Just sat around the fire talking.

By the by, if anyone ever wonders...A Perfect Trees Incubator will fit on a BMBH.

Overnight temps were in the high 20's. It was 29F when we woke this morning to have coffee and pack up.

Shug, I like the incubator just fine. I'm going to have to get my hands on another JRB UQ suspension set. I'm not sure, but I think I may have left my other set attached to Fin's BMBH when I borrowed it end of last year. The hammock side of the UQ gets a little tight against against the hammock, but the outside stays loose and fluffy.

No cold spots except for when I was on my side and there was a gap between me and the hammock. Easily remedied by stuffing my down vest back behind me. It's a great UQ, maybe a bit more UQ than I really need. More overnighters are needed with the proper suspension for the UQ.

Also would like to not that pictured there is my new tarp. It's a mac cat ultra, but I had brian make a modification to it. Usually, the ultra has 2 cat cuts per side and you use 3 tie-outs per side. I had brian make the tarp with 1 cat cut per side, but leaving the 3 tie out points. I get a good tight pitch using 4 corners, leaving the middles off. If really bad weather shows up, I've got the 3rd tie out.

I'm glad to have finally met up with some of the local fellas from SC. Hope we can get more of us together in the future. Honey Hill is a good little camp ground. It's free and would be a good jumping off point for day hikes on the palmetto trail, motor cycle trail or the canoe/kayak trails nearby.

Great photos! I used to camp at Honey Hills when I lived in Mt Pleasant. How I miss SC!

Is the fire tower still there?

That incubator looks like it won't be something you use on those steamy SC summer nights! Too toasty!

    Cheers,
    Bleemus

Yeah. Fire tower is still there.

I don't like to camp much in the summer time unless it's near a body of water. Too hot and muggy and too many bugs.

Love that! I do the same thing. Just get away and burn some wood. Just added your fire picture as my background.
