    bottom entry bugnet

does anyone here have SLD's bottom entry bugnet?

I ordered one awhile back and I notice at the bottom around the opening Jared put a mitten hook there. I'm just wondering what is the use for it?

    thanks

I don't have a specific answer on that. Yesterday I was hanging in a strong wind with my fronkey bug net and Snugpak under blanket setup. The net kept blowing over and lifting to create an opening on one side. I tightened the elastic cordage but it didn't help much.

Maybe without an under blanket you could use the hook to peg the net down to prevent this from happening ?

It was my first time sleeping in that high of a wind without a tarp. Clear skies and a cool breeze was nice though.

I have one & wondered the same thing. Jared told me it's so you can hook the shock cord line anywhere into the inside of the hammock to access the line when you want to un cinch it or cinch it. I think he left an excess of shock cord line so you can custom the length to your desire. I actually cut off a foot of the shock cord of the end & i don't bother with the mitten hook.

ok thanks. I probably won't use the mitten hook either. he also sent a triangle carabiner with my hammock that I wondered about it also.

I have been attaching the mitten hook to my ridge line for the means that l can now follow and find the shock cord more easily.... When dark outside l can locate the cord lock more readily for release or synch up.
Placing it on which ever side is the favoured side to enter or exit the hammock helps for an easier application of opening and closing.
That what l found to use this for, but hey if there is another mile a moment application going on here, l would not be to surprised.

I never got that but i would bet that its for the end that opens. Sometimes when you get in the hammock it can pull the cinch able end open & cause it to start opening at the end. I hooked up something similar to prevent the end form opening
