    The Hammock Pole Mod

I've been meaning to get to this for some time but kept dragging my feet, mostly b/c I was afraid it wouldn't work, but it appears as tho' it has. I haven't put my bug net on yet but I'm pretty sure it would work, however, my primary reason for this is to use it in the house.
I just laid in the hammock and marked the hammock at my shoulder and at my feet. Then knocked together a couple of little pockets out of grosgrain and sewed them on. Next, I fitted the pole and that was that mission accomplished. It seems to have reduced shoulder squeeze and I don't have to tie off to any furniture or drive a nail into the floor for a mooring point. Anyway here's some photos and a a video (as soon as it publishes).

Its aluminum tent pole I got off amazon a year or so ago, I inadvertently ordered too much at the time so it was just lying around.

I stretched my hammock out like that with my arms and thought it was much closer to a bridge hammock. I thought about trying this. Looks great.

Wouldn't you know it, I guess there's nothing new under the sun. I wonder if 2 straight across poles would be better than 1 diagonal pole??

Thanks. I've only been in a bridge or a min or two but as I laid in the hammock this morning I wondered how it would compare to a bridge.

    Sleep update: No calf ridge

Now with one whole night of testing under my belt, I have to say I like it.. Not only does it greatly reduce the shoulder squeeze the calf ridge is gone too. I never really had a problem with the calf ridge, which is to say it was quite minimal, but now it's non-existent.
    Good luck,

I think the 2 poles benefits the banana sleepers, where the diagonal pole works better for diagonal sleepers?

I have to admit, I thought the way they integrated the bug net onto the 2 poles was pretty clever though

I agree the bug net sliding on the poles is a nice feature.
