With an asym you're nearly always going to have it pitched very close to the hammock's SRL, which acts as a de facto tarp RL, so any water that pools there will usually be minimal and will drain off by itself when it reaches a certain point. And when it's raining, you'll definitely want to have it as close to the SRL as physically possible.

Asym is generally a specialized, uber-minimalist, just-in-case bit of kit. However, the Glasgow KISS (Kitsap Cowboy) has more coverage and is IMO as perfectly optimized for weather as an asym can be. My first night under it featured moderate rain, some snow and sleet and 10-15 mph wind. I was extremely pleased with it, all things considered. It kept me very dry and gear dry enough... just have to find the 'dry zone' under the tarp.
UL, because nobody ever asks "How can I make my pack heavier?"

And THIS ^^^^ is exactly why I sold my old asym and made the Glasgow KISS.

You wonder why I love to sleep alone, in the woods, in a hammock.. I wonder why you don't...
