My father had a 2 person Colombian hammock he brought back from Mexico. Most comfortable hammock Iíve used. I could lay 90 dev and Iím 6í. Unlike the cheap rope hammocks you used to see there was no waffle butt when you got up. It was too bulky for backpacking but great for home use.

It does apparently get a bit chilly sometimes in Brazil. Perhaps having to suffer when the temps are low is one factor that had kept hammocks associated with backwards rural poverty in the American tropics, and underquilts can help restore pride in this indigenous way. Itís exciting to me that hammocks neednít be a one-way reclamation or appropriation from decimated ancient cultures, but that the adopters might have something to give back, actually improving hammocks as beds instead of degrading them into tippy lawn furniture with spreader bars.
It's frequent enough to have a friaje (cold front) come through, but don't worry, no one is suffering. You wrap up in your alpaca blanket and everything is fine. We'd have days where it was 100 during the day and 50 at night when a friaje went through.

My daughter is getting her first apartment by herself while attending grad school. She stated she needed a bed, and when I suggested a hammock, she vehemently said no way. One day maybe she will get it. All I can do is spread the word. My wife may slowly be converting from tent to hammock, but more time is needed to convert!! Thanks for the cool history of Columbus and the Hamoca Latherdome!

While not 18' long nor 12' wide, these arnt too shabby. Iv been using these for backyard lounging for about a decade. Its an experience like none other if you haven't been in a giant gathered end hammock.

I think he estimated at least 9í high based on the Ultimate Hang Calculator.

Biggest hammock I have is 12í Long by 10í Wide. (2 standard width 1.9oz nylon panels sewn together...) Now Iím thinking about doing one with XL fabric panels at 18í long Might be awesome for those times when the anchors are just too darn far apart for standard hammocks
