I wonder if neck pain also translates to between-the-shoulder-blades pain. Before I switched to hammock sleeping full-time, I had given up on using pillows because of neck pain. In my hammock, I fold a small fleece blanket about three times to make a thin, comfy pillow that's easy to adjust. No neck pain.
The game is the best teacher.

Sometimes a soft wraparound neck pillow is better in the hammock for some.

I get back pain from stretchier fabrics, including 1.6 Hexon. If you get a chance, try a 70D fabric or the 1.7oz Robic and see if it fixes your issues.

I switched to using the smallest inflatable pillow and then only inflate it about 1/2 anyway. Since the hammock is curving up having a normal size pillow hyperextends my neck and causes pain.

Great responses thank you all. I’ll try a smaller pillow in my next hang, if that doesn’t work I’ll check out a slightly heavier fabric. Will advise how it works out
