Nothing matches my introverted, anti-social personality better than a solo camping motorcycle trip.

I'm getting older [69 in six weeks]. I'm on my own. I can hang in my own yard out here in the Williwacks of Maine anytime I want... all the space, wildlife, wild beauty and privacy I could ask for without leaving home.
So, I am more likely to want peoples company if I head out to somewheres else.

I end up going solo because I have no friends .... that hike. I would love to find another out of shape, sit behind the desk coding, slug that I can keep up with but they are hard to come by so I solo and love it but would prefer company as well.

I need an option 5 as well. I like to go solo but I'm almost always camping with scouts.

Solo 50% of the time or more.....

Solo a fair amount. Easier to film a solo trip.
My showbiz schedule leaves me weekdays and most of my friends work weekdays.
Plus I am a last minute backpacker....see some time open on my calendar and grab and go.
So I grab and go and get gone.

I'm solo 99.9% of the time. I would've said 100% but surely sometime during the last 30+ years I went with someone. I just don't remember it.

I'm solo due mainly to the fact that everyone in my group of friends are "city boys" but also partly due to the fact that I really don't play well with others.

    Never tried it...

Backyard doesn't count...Does it? Hard to get the solo time or even group time for that matter.

Seems about half of my hikes are about 50% solo, but that's to get into a group camp. Someday.....oh, someday I will find the time to get a few days of solo hiking and camping. But then there's no one there for me to make a fire.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

When I first started hammock camping about eight years ago, I almost always hiked solo. I didn't know many campers, and I certainly didn't know which ones were fair-weather campers. I personally love all kinds of weather, and would never dream of cancelling a trip because it was going to rain or snow.

You quickly find out who the fair-weather campers are. I have one friend I refuse to go hiking or camping with anymore because I know he'll cancel if there's a 20% chance of precipitation. He wonders why I won't go hiking or camping with him anymore. Backing out of trips is just second nature to him.

I once went on a hike with a couple of people and the forecast was 0% chance of rain. Well, it rained, a lot, and they turned around and went home after just a quarter-mile of hiking. So now I know they're fair-weather campers - I won't be planning any trips with them.

Nevertheless, I now know a bunch of people who are not fair-weather campers. I rarely go solo because I know the people who go out in all kinds of weather. Almost every one of them have never cancelled a trip because of weather. My kind of folks!

Anyone that cancels due to weather must be retired or unemployed...or something that allows them reschedule easily.

It's hard enough to find time on the calendar, then get off work, then clear it with the THE BOSS. So once it's set, it's happening no matter what the weather because the next chance may not be very soon.
