    New to SoCal

Hi, I need some help in a high stakes endeavor!!! I would like to take my significant other on her first backpacking trip! I'm very excited but want to make sure she has a good time.

I just moved from North Carolina (where I had the pleasure of backpacking the Linville Gorge all year every year) to San Diego, California. I'm off my home turf and out of my element.

Does anyone have any recommendations of Forests and/or Trail loops in Southern California?

My main concerns are water sources and trees to hang on. Our fitness level is very high so I know she'll be fine from that perspective.

    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

If you don't mind a little drive, here's a good hike in a beautiful area in the below post. There are a couple of trail heads from the Idyllwild side or a tram ride from the Palm Springs side. Lots of YouTube vids on the area. Lots of good day hikes in SD, but not great loops or dispersed camping like you're use to doing.

Yep, this is a great place to take her. There are both men and women there. My wife loves this event. Great group of people that will certainly become friends. This event will be in April. And welcome to SoCal.
