As a lifetime denizen of the North, I try to avoid camping when overnight low temps are above 50°. I've done it ... but I hate it. For New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, that means that only July and August are off limits, at least at any decent elevation above 2000'.

Men hang out their signs indicative of their respective trades; shoe makers hang out a gigantic shoe; jewelers a monster watch, and the dentist hangs out a gold tooth; but up in the Mountains of New Hampshire, God Almighty has hung out a sign to show that there He makes men.

I agree about sleeping best in temperatures below 70. That said, even if it's hotter, I do much better in a hammock than on the ground in a tent. Actually, I find the hammock is one of the best ways to stay cool in the heat.

I live in the hot and humid southeast, during the hot months we camp on the edge of a local lake, the open lake provides for a nice strong breeze all night long cooled by the waters surface.
It is often 10 degrees cooler where we camp on the lake than the local forecast.

When it's real bad sleeping in damp lightweight clothing, with a strong breeze, helps a bunch, but most people would just prefer to stay home I guess.

31 months straight. I don’t enjoy the summer like I do the winter. But, I like the higher elevations and a creek close by.
