Images load as sideways or upsidedown

Is there a easy solution to correcting the orientation of photos I post?

Save them to your hard drive with the orientation you want. Works for me.

You should also be able to image you want to edit in the gallery and to the top right of the image box, click on IMAGE TOOLS.
    Then EDIT IMAGE.
The here should be a box to the right called "Image Manipulation".
Here you should be able to flip the image or rotate it.

I don't see any of what you mention! Orientation is correct on my computer, but uploaded they are sideways. Try to edit the photo in the gallery, the only choices I get are to make it the album cover or to delete it. No image tools, none of that.

Taking a screenshot of the image works for me.
Also my image editor (GIMP) auto rotates them before I upload.

The photo viewer on your computer is auto rotating the photos but the photo file is still oriented sideways. Hit save or 'save as' on your computer while it is being displayed correctly and the file will be oriented correctly when you upload it.

I'm pretty sure there is something hinckey going on. I posted the same 3 pics on another site and all was fine. One of the three here had turned sideways. It's correct in my folder.

If you were holding your camera at an angle, you may have thought it took it as a portrait, but instead it was horizontal. The camera/software is just rotating it to one and not the other. The photo EXIF (background photo info) could be telling it how to display on the web. You can try erasing the EXIF in windows or with an "EXIF Eraser" application which is free online.

I ended up downloading the free GIMP app for my laptop and it recognized the side tilt & corrected it for me. Now pictures are in the correct orientation when I upload them to the forum.
