Suspending in the winter. What works and what won’t?

So which kinds of suspensions are best for cold weather; and likewise for the bitter cold weather? What works well for most conditions, what works okay for some conditions, and what simply won’t work or is too much of a PITA in the cold?

I am assuming woven daisy chain straps with Evo-loops larked on the hammocks sewn channel would be the best choice all around. Would a whoopie sling still function reliably? Is polyester going to absorb snowmelt and freeze stiffer than dyneema or kevlar? I’m asking about below freezing and even below zero and even whether there is any need to distinguish between the two.

I've never had any issues with my strap/buckle suspension but I've only gone down to the low teens. I can't imagine they would work any different in lower temps though. Maybe the straps would get a bit stiffer.

I use the same straps and whoopie combinations year round with a marlinspike toggle. Hot or cold, rain or snow, it's all works the same.

I would recommend getting the easiest suspension that can be adjusted with gloves on for cold weather hanging.

I think pretty much any suspension will work fine. Last winter, I used Dutchware Titanium Cinch Buckles down to -13°F, and had no issues.

Likewise last year was my first winter hanging. I stayed in my backyard several nights in the teens and on one overnight trip that got down to 2* with light snow using whoopies for all setups. I never had an issue with being able to adjust or having them slip on me while hanging.

Enjoy, winter hanging is a blast.

-15* with whoopies on a cold, but dry weekend - no issues. I'm hoping to see info from those who hang in freezing rain or lots of wet, soggy snowfall.

I've had freezing rain gum up UCR's before, probably would have gummed up any suspension system. Fortunately it was the morning I was departing so I just unhooked it all and left.
