Certainly not knocking innovation, don't get me wrong, but what would you say are the main advantages of this vs. other 1.0 osy fabrics? Anything other than the breathability? Is it tougher/more durable because of the monofilament mesh construction?
No problem and good question. Here's my short list:
1. Better durability - This was the very first thing I noticed when we began testing the MONOLITE. When you abrade most 1.0 osy fabrics, it's pretty easy to separate the weave and create a thin spot. That thin spot is then weaker and a possible point of failure. The 1.0 MONOLITE is much better at resisting this weave separation and the resulting thin spots.
2. Lower stretch - This is user dependent and somewhat subjective, but most of our initial testers reported the MONOLITE as having less stretch for a hammock.
3. Easier to sew - The MONOLITE is stiffer and thus a lot easier to sew.
4. Good tear/tensile strength - For a 1.0 osy fabric, the tear and tensile are pretty good here. We're still thinking to keep the weight rating at 200 lbs for a number of reasons. However, as a rough comparison, the 1.0 MONOLITE is showing about the same warp tensile strength as our slightly heavier 1.1 oz RS nylon.
Here's a link to the full data sheet we released last week.

Alright... We've heard about the Monolite, but what happened to "FABRIC X" ?? I'm itching to burn my 15% coupon!
OK. Now.... whaaaaaaat? Just watched the vid to see the new fabric for the first time.
This brings a new meaning to laying down al fresco. If I wanted to go in my birthday suit..... all my wobbly bits could still be seen behind the fabric
This fabric with DIY sil could be an interesting tarp.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
Anyone else keep hitting the click bait waiting for the clouds to part, the sun to shine, and the music to swell as Kyle rolls out the Mono magic carpet.
I will be patient.
