.Side note. It mayby August 7th. But hypothermia is still really real in the mountains when it is 50 degrees and storming. So please be ready for it.

you better believe it. they say that people more often suffer the effects of hypothermia in those temp ranges than in colder temps, simply because they think in the milder temps, they can ignore the warning signs (shivers, etc) & they just "deal w/ it" & allow their body core temp to continue to drop.

Anyone heard from HE lately. He hasn't updated his trail journal and was wondering where he was, so that when (If he hasn't already) hits MD I could do some trail magic for him.

I talked to him 10/06/07 I think it was, he was planning on being in PA sometime this week, was worried about the H2O situation there.

He is doing well, having a great time. Said he is taking his time, is in no real hurry. He is also back in his own hammock, "Thanks Jacks!"

Wait until he get down in southern VA, NC, and GA. Water situations down there are dire.

I was at Birch Run Shelter during the Mid Altantic Hangout and the creek was virtually dry. I had to walk downstream a hundred or so yards to find a puddle of water, although I think the situtation will imporve thios week since we're suppose to get rain all the second half of this week.

i just got through catching up to his latest entries. he's had some nice wildlife sightings & expressed his thanks for encouragement from doctari.
hopefully he will have new foot wear & a pack by the next time he up loads his entries. sounds like he's ready for them.

Thanks for all the concerns. I got most of my issues fixed, at least the gear ones. The water in PA is bad, but not undoable. I think the longest stretch has been 10 or so miles. Staying around shelters usually helps. Gives water at dinner and a good supply to start the day. Luckily it is cooler and I am not drinking as much during the day.

Oh and in Port Clinton I got a chance to see the new Traveler adventure hammock. I didn't get to hang in it, but I got a good look at it. I'll have to post my thoughts on it.

I am now in the huge metropolous of Duncannon staying at the 4 star Doyle. I'll be at the bar this afternoon until sometime to be determined if anyone is in the area.
