So we are on the trail. Its a smooth hardpacked trail. We are past Hilltop junction to the left and there is supposed to be a side trail to Sliver lake...to the west of the trails. There is a sign. Easy going!

Yeah...
That said, Iguana and I have decided to wait until this storm blows over and leave first thing in the morning. Given that the entire route from Toronto to Algonquin has a snow squall and whiteout warning it just doesn't make sense to risk it.
See everyone tomorrow.

Snow squalls and strong winds continue.
Multiple bands of snow squalls and blowing snow continue to affect the region this afternoon. Local snowfall amounts up to 20 cm per 12 hours are possible in the strongest snow squalls.
Strong westerly winds gusting up to 70 km/h continue early this evening. These strong winds are generating near zero visibilities in blowing snow.
The westerly winds will become northwesterly this evening, shifting the snow squalls to the southeast of Georgian Bay. These snow squalls will continue into early Saturday morning.
###
Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. Road closures are possible.
