ENlightment Equipment Enigma VS Hammock Gear Burrow

Looking at these two top quilts in 20 Degree sewn foot box .
The EE Enigma is a slightly higher fill weight of 0.4 ounce. The shell is more fragile nylon 10D. They are made in USA. There’s a Massdrop going on right now . What are your experience on these?

    Thanks

The Massdrop EE quilts are made in China, I believe.

Correction, this batch says made in USA. The last batch on Massdrop was definitely made in China, however.

I’m concerned about the inside and outer shell being 10D

I really like my Burrow. See it at 14 minutes in on video below.
Can't speak to EE gear as I don't own any of their gear.

I own an EE Enigma in the sythetic fill. Like all things super-light, you are trading weight vs. fabric durability. It is hard to answer what is durable enough. It all depends on your use, expectation of longevity etc...etc.... I have a Feathered Friends bag that is >25 years old that has seen regular use for most of that time. We still use it (although it isn't my first pick). Back then a roughly 20 denier fabric was considered highly fragile but it has gone the distance.

I have a Burrow Econ 20 deg. on order from Hammock Gear. I don't yet have any experience with the product yet but the econ uses a slightly higher heavier 20 denier fabric & 800 fill duck down. The premium version of the same quilt uses 10 & 15 denier fabric & 850 (or 950) fill goose down.

Both of these companies make a quality product. I don't think you will go wrong with either. Hammock Gear is focused more on Hammock users, EE seems to have had more success with the rest of the market.

I have both, different temp ratings. I like both. The Enigma has a great pad attachment system for when I go to the ground, and is really light for a 20 degree quilt, around19 oz w/ 850FP. It’s a regular width, but mine is 56” wide, so I don’t have to compromise warmth and comfort when sleeping on a pad.

The Massdrop deal is great. If I needed a quality down quilt I would jump on that.

I would jump on the Massdrop deal. It’s a good one, not like previous ones.

I'm looking at the Massdrop deal and it says "Made in China" using 800 fill down. When I bought my EE quilt they were a small start-up company sewing quilts by hand in MN.

The Hammock Gear Burrow Econ is cheaper, and made in the USA by a vendor that participates in this forum. I know how I would vote.

You are not looking at the correct one, the Enigma. I too would not buy the one you are referencing.

You can still get the Burrow at about the same price. There might be slight variations but as an example:

    Burrow:

    *Shell 10/15d
    *Insulation 850FP Down
    *Handmade in USA
    *20 deg. Regular-Wide
    *Sewn Footbox

    $265

The EE Massdrop is $263 shipped so you are within $10 of each other. More options on the HG because it isn't a Massdrop and longer wait because they are not pre-made. Also... the wide of the EE is a couple inches wider based upon their chart. YMMV.
