Hi 2Q,
I was wondering if you have done this mod on a OES Spinn Deluxe yet? Is the spinn material durable enough? Also, how would one calculate how long of a center pole they need?
I was playing around with one of my old tent poles and I think this mod may actually eliminate the noise I get from the tarp when it is setup in the breeze.
Thanks,
DG
I think the center pole mod will not only provide some support but may help eliminate some noise with the Spinn tarps.
Unlike Sil, Spinn doesn't stretch, so the poles need to be the correct length. I'd purchase enough poles knowing that I may have to trim them to fit. Set the tarp up after the pockets are sewn on, insert one end into the pocket, arch the pole up into the tarp until it reaches the ridge line, mark where the pole should be cut so it fits into the other pocket. Remove everything and measure your pole length. Cut pole to marked size.

This is going on my have-done list!
I admire all you DYI people but with folks like 2Q/ZQ willing to do a better job than I can for a price that is more than reasonable I'll spend my money rather than my time.
Next project - get enough money for Griz Beaks!
I just received my Speer tarp back from 2QZQ. I had their pole pockets added to it. How can the work be described? Precise, meticulous, perfect, are words that come to mind. I hope the picture depicts the quality of Donna's work. Thank you Donna and Tim.
