    Mountainfly for 2 hammocks?

My wife and I are getting into hammocking and are planning on using Dutch's dual hammock setup with the beetle buckles and spreader bars, so now I'm looking into tarp options. I've bought the Thunderfly for my solo trips that I will be taking but I'm wondering if the Mountainfly might be better suited for setting up both hammocks. Does anybody have any experience with this setup? Thanks!

I would look at the Winter Haven XL from Simply Light Designs.

agreed, you'll want a wider tarp, and you'll want to suspend it higher for more room.

I experimented a little with it, with my Old Man Winter and my gear hammock... there was a definite seesaw effect, and it was definitely real close the the tarp walls... doable, but you'll maybe want to limit the amount that the spreader bar ends can lift by tying them down or something...I didn't think to try that until just now

Done it. Would have greatly appreciated a wider tarp though

Just be sure to test any sealant on the tie-outs before trusting the setup. I found out I'd done a garbage job of sealing the tie-outs on my Superfly when it rained hard on my first night out with it. I barely had room for my own hammock (though I did manage to stay almost entirely dry).

I suppose most are not quite so foolhardy as to trust their own work before testing it...

been there, done that... and it still leaked after I went back and redid it, Third time was the charm though. this time, when I got my latest tarp from HG, I took it from the package and sealed it right away... covered the ENTIRE ridge-line seam in a 3" strip of sil from end to end, and the entire patch of each side-pull, not just the stitching... I wasn't messing around this time!!
