    Heated Hammock

Heated gloves, heated boot insoles, heated jackets, heated political discussion at the dinner table.

When will we see a heated hammock?

I'm not trolling...honest!! I'm just wondering in the days of crazy products, where is this one at?

A thin UQ, like a big heated blanket, with the wire running back up the suspension then down the tree. You know, for aesthetics. Battery/ac connection on ground below.

You could plug it into a current bush.

Now that's funny. You would fit right in with my family's humor.

Hey, I made my own heated jacket liner for winter riding on my motorcycle. I used carbon fiber cloth tape. It works wonderfully.
Sew some of that into a double layer hammock, add an insulator underneath to keep the wind from stealing the heat, and you would be in business. The tape is really soft, so it isn't noticeable. The wire that feeds the power to the tape is noticeable though.

The winter hang here in Michigan is held at a stat park and there a a few of those electric bushes around. I think that I have seen a few cords running to the short square bushes!

Put on your heated gloves, heated insoles and heated jacket and you do not need a heated hammock

Maybe we could all embrace our inner bushcrafter and just make a big fire and hang the hammock above it. Maybe add a tarp made from reflectix to reflect the heat back down.

And the rockets redglare, bombs bursting in air . Good thread...

you "recharge" them by heating them in boiling water, something we're generally doing already.....

I ride in the winter, and can tell you the heated gear is great. But the gloves that run on rechargeable batteries last about 2 hours or so. If you want any kind of longer time, it has to run off the battery system of the motorcycle.

So that means either carrying something as big as a car battery, having some kind of generator, some kind of local RV type power box like at the campgrounds, or using it either for short emergency heat boost, or just to warm up things right before bed. I just don't believe the power source could be made light enough for backpacking hammock camping and still have enough power reserve to be useful.

Probably easier to carry warm clothes and quilts.
