Journey vs. Journey II - same material or different?

I have a Journey II en route (couldn't resist the Black Friday sale) so this is more an academic question than anything else. The Journey's description specifies that it's made with Xenon, while the Journey II uses "silicone impregnated, 100% polyester, 20 denier fabric". Based on that, I'm assuming it's NOT Xenon, but a more general/generic silpoly material?

Nobody answered yet so I'm going to take a guess. Xenon I believe is also 100% polyester. I would imagine the denier is lighter meaning the Journey II is able to handle a heavier camper.

It's a tarp, so not sure what the weight of the camper would have to do with it. Spec-wise, the Journey II is 0.30 ounce lighter than the standard Journey, so I'm guessing that the material is not exactly the same, but comparable. In fact, in the description they state: "You can expect the design, quality of materials, and workmanship to be the same as our original Journey." I was just looking for confirmation from the vendor as to whether it is made with a specific "brand" of silpoly (e.g.: Hexon or some other name brand) or a generic type.

    CVK,

I think if you email Harry you will get an answer super quick. I always have.

Just go to the Hammock Gear Website or give a shout out to him here. he is Grisnakh on this site.

FWIW I recently got the original Journey 12 foot Tarp. It is top notch as is all of Hammock Gears products.

    Merry Christmas.

Hey there! The material is not the same as the Xenon we use for our Journey and Quest we make in house, but it is about as close as we can get. I hope that helps! As always, feel free to reach out to me via email / phonecall / or on our website.
