    These have more of a spiral to them than an actual "Y"...I'm guessing they won't be anything special. On occasion I get these stuck in the frozen ground, but a tiny splash of water and they come right out.
    Those look better quality than the "typical" amazon Y-stakes. Almost like MSR Groundhogs with that slight spiral.

    It's easy enough to drill holes or file another set of notches near the middle, if you want to use them as "dead man" stakes for dedicated winter use.

    Yeah, if I resort to a deadman I always just go for a stick instead so I'm working with 1-2" diameter instead of a tiny stake. But both work...it's more about packing and letting the snow set up before loading it with a ton of tension.
