2QZQ UQP with integrated removable CDQ for Summer UQ or extra winter layer

Here's a project that I thought might be of interest. I asked Donna from 2QZQ to sew some extra Grosgrain loops into my UQP.

I then took a CDQ and used similar techniques to the Gemini to attach to the UQP to make an integrated Summer UQ/UQP. I also think it could work as an extra insulated layer under my Gemini in Winter.

Used some small plastic toggles and shock cord to attach Clews from the CDQ to the grosgrain loops at the ends of the UQP. This is all easily removable so that you can take off the CDQ and go back to a straight UQP.

Down the sides I just added Cam Snaps to the four extra grosgrain loops Donna put in down each side and snapped the CDQ to the UQP.

May test it as an extra layer next week if it is cold enough. For Summer I am hoping to use this down to 50 degrees or so as my main UQ.

That is a very interesting idea. I love the modular approach. Having just made an underquilt protector, you've given me some ideas to think about for another project, maybe something similar using one of my poncho liners to achieve the same sort of 50 degree summer setup. Good pics too.

Except for the messy basement! Also, If it is too warm for the UPQ, without much fuss I can use the shock cord toggle setup on the ends to attach to the hammock so the CDQ can be used without the UQP.

CDQ = Costco Down Quilt, I believe. Sometimes called a CDT, Costco Down Throw.

Thank you Sidneyhornblower for the clarification. I think we should come up with a list of acronyms and their meanings on this forum, hahaha.

There’s a lot of 2QZQ, TQ, UQ, CDQ, UGQ, CRL, SRL, SLD, HG, DH, HH, AHE, MSH, WBBB, etc. A whole chapter could be dedicated to items that start with the prefix DUTCH-, hehehe.

    Cheers,

With so many acronyms, soon folks will start thinking we're a federal agency.

No worries mate... It wasn't meant as criticism, just a musing. We all do the same, it's hilarious.
