Spent last weekend in Okutama. I thought I was going to take it easy as I just recovered from a cold/flu but came home to my daughter with a high fever, and myself coming down with it. Whole family quarantined to our home the whole week by the doc . Fun times.
Got off from Kori station on the JR Ome line.
Walked a few meters to the 7-11.
Stuff you can buy at a Japanese convenience store.
Ended up buying fried garlic chicken bento, sandwich and some snacks.
Can’t miss this sign
Start of the trail
30 minutes in and found a spot for breakfast
I had plenty of time so I took a lot of side trails to check the views that were not worth it.
Spot where Tiger and I camped last year
Finally made it up Mt. Kawanori. Still lots of people there at 1pm but they were thinning as the winds picked and temps dropped.
View from Mt Kawanori
Legs started to cramp while eating lunch but I had hot tea so I had that going.
Dropped 100 meters and set up camp off a closed trail.
It was only around 3pm and spent a whole lot of time messing with my setup
Waiting for sunset
The overnight lows
Stayed warm and toasty throughout the night but woke up a few times to some deers and occasional whips of wind.
Sunrise
Cleaned up camp and headed towards Kawanoribashi bus stop.
Hyakuhirono Falls
Made the decision to go to the hot springs after waiting over 30 minutes for the next bus.
15 min walk to the hot springs from the train station.
