    Prevent UCR Slippage

Maybe easiest way to stop UCR from slipping, while camping, is to use Nanok’s idea.

Except use a carabiner, most all hammock campers have spare carabiners.

Adjust UCR hammock suspension to height
Then lengthen suspension a bit to take following into account
    Milk bury UCR

Form a larkshead in middle of bury around a carabiner. This will have sharp bend in larkshead and larkshead will squeeze itself to put the brakes on all slipping!!!

Sorry, feeling very dense and I don't understand your description. Any possible chance you would have a picture of this?

Also, I think the bury is the "tunnel" bit that the tail comes out of?

I was going to try a slippery half hitch with the tail, but read above about that slipping too.

    Thank you.

Don’t feel bad, lots of my descriptions are wordy, and don’t give a good mind’s eye to what I’m talking about.
Even though I’ve been given step by step instructions on posting pictures here, I’ve never posted any photos.

A UCR splice has an outer sleeve and an inner bury.
Before, I used word bury, and should have used word splice instead.

That splice is thicker because it has two amsteel ropes, one inside the other.

After setting UCR and milking the bury, you could tie a marlin spike hitch with that thick splice. A carabiner could be used as toggle on marlin spike hitch.

If you don’t want to use marlin spike hitch, substitute with a larkshead tied with the thick splice. A carabiner can be clipped into larkshead.

If I used UCR in my hammock suspension, and it slipped, a quick fix on the trail, would be marlin spike hitch.
After getting back home I might switch suspensions altogether, or make another UCR with a longer buried splice.

Many UCR hammock campers have a prusik attached to UCR to help keep outer bury tightly stretched along splice.

I guess a lot, and don’t really know if the above ideas work in real life.

Maybe one of your friends can decipher my descriptions, maybe not.
I’ve read some of my old posts, and wonder what I was talking about.

    Good luck
And don’t worry, if none of this clicks, it ain’t your fault.

For what it’s worth, and Phantom has seen my set-up, I use UCRs with an 8” bury and a whipping knot per a post by MikekiM. Phantom added a half hitch to the exit end, but honestly I’ve never had it slip. Maybe my weight/hang angle isn’t putting a lot of strain on it, but I’m really enjoying the quick adjustments afforded by the UCRs.

Edit, I added a slip knot to loose end after bury exit.

    But it was completely unnecessary.
Twistytee’s UCR was already perfect and did not slip any.

Slip knot does not tie to anything, it just hangs there and in case of slipping, the slip knot is too fat to travel inside the bury.

I’m guessing that will work if UCR fails, by getting bumped, or splice is too short.

Twistytee’s UCR had an adequate length splice
    El Perfecto!!!!
