While I’ve been camping since I was old enough to disappear for the night, hanging is fairly new to me. I picked up a HH last year, had it out a few times and took a while to get the right hang, once I did I fell in love.
Im working on getting things set up for winter, so far I’m ok down to -5 or so but the weather turned last night and I was out at -20. It was unpleasent.

So here I am, looking to improve gear and knowledge.... And maybe give a bridge a try.

Hey there, Nagol! I also use the HH ( Explorer UL with HH Super Shelter for insulation) and bridges with JRB and AHE UQs.

What type of insulation are you using in the Great White North?

Right now a cheap synthetic UQ, the exped winterdown and a cheap Chinese -5 bag. I survived the night with my fleece and woobie inside the bag. Found I’m having issues with the exped deflating. I’ll be testing it for leaks this weekend(wasn’t a thermal differential issue).
I’m looking to upgrade but haven’t decided on a direction yet.

Hi Nagol, welcome to the forums from Toronto. This was one of my first stops on the long road to learn about hammocking.

As LuvmyBonnet mentioned earlier, we have an open invitation "getting ready for winter" hang coming up at Valens Conservation Area just north of Hamilton on Jan 11-13. If you're in the area, feel to drop by for a daytrip or even a night or two. It's a great chance to see a variety of setups and see how some of cold weather veterans deal with sub-zero conditions. There're heated washrooms to retreat to in a pinch and we always have a big fire which gets pretty busy around dinnertime. We also do canoeing in the spring and fall.
