Well I should be ready to fill my new top quilt in the next day or two.For those of you that have done the Karo design do you have any pointers to help this along. What method for spreading the down around did you use. How hard is it to spread evenly? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

Just stuff it in, sew it up, shake it around! It works great!
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.

Just shake and the down will spread pretty evenly, especially with some overstuff.
Yup, it's too easy! Fill it up, sew it closed and then shake and pat it to spread it around.

What are the methods used to go from a bulk bag of down, to the scales for weighing, to getting it in the quilt. Without making it look like a goose exploded!For my underquilt I just grabbed handfulls, & stuffed them into a ripstop tube I made about the same size as a chamber of my quilt. Then I weighed the tube. When the weight was right I stuffed the tube open end first into my quilt, a few quick jerks & the down fell into my quilt. The transfer from tube to quilt was clean, the transfer from bag to tube by hand was not. It seems I will need to fill the Karo design by hand.

The vacuum cleaner method works great.
Also, hanging on a line with the opening at the top works well - use gravity to keep the down in the quilt while filling.
If you have a scale with a 'tare' function, just keep moving from the bag to the quilt until you have transfered the correct amount.
Nothing really to add to what others have said but for the KS UQ I made, I stuffed it by hand.
I have also used the vacuum method and it works well provided that the mesh used is secured very well. I had a piece slip and fill the vacuum with down. Good thing it was a new vacuum and the down was easy to retrieve or I would have been pretty upset.
All said and done, both methods were relatively painless with only a little down lost. Just take your time with filling the main chamber and shake it well (or poke it through the holes between the baffles with the vacuum wand).
