    Trail lair vs tree runner

Looking to buy one of these. Can someone break down the pros and cons of each please. To the best of my knowledge, the tree runner is a netless version of the trail lair. Don't hey come in the same fabric options, width options, etc.. Planning on adding the winter sock option too if that has any impact. Thanks

I have a Trail Lair and it's one of the most comfortable gathered end hammocks I own. I would always recommend getting an integrated bug net for the weight savings and the fact that it's harder to forget an attached piece of equipment.

I don't have the wintersock but I do have the windsock. (forgot how its called) Great piece of gear that creates a nice micro climate. So I would sure recommend that.

if you go with the trail lair you can get the top cover (https://www.simplylightdesigns.com/c...il-lair-owners) that is removable and you could probably go without the winter sock

Tree Runner is a winter hammock.

I really like my Tree Runner. I have found it to be a really nice lay PLUS for me it is an easy exit GE hammock (very important to me).

I always have my Tree Runner with me because I am not always able to find space for my RR.

I use netless hammocks year around so my Lair has not been used.

    I really like SLD gear.

In reality it all comes down to personal taste.

I have a Trail Lair and two Tree Runners. They are the same hammock body, just one is made with a net and the other is netless. They are both the most comfortable hammocks I have used to date. Though I love my Trail Lair there is just something about the simplicity of the Tree Runner. Also, on a netless hammock you can add an adjustable ridgeline to it and really tailor the lay of the hammock to your liking. I like really wide hammocks so I had Jared add knotty mods on my Tree Runners to snug up the extra material when laying in them.

I have a tree runner now. Kind of an experiment for me. I had Jared install dual knotty mods and 2 peak shelves along with tie outs and quilt hooks. I ordered a trail lair yesterday with the optional wind shield. I will be able to compare them side by side soon.

Not getting this. Perhaps because bugs aren't a problem in winter? The net also holds in a little heat and cuts a little wind which can obviously be of benefit in winter.
