Welcome to the forum, from the North Hills area. I would also be interested in local hangs, and very interested about the hike-in spot off Possum Track.

Lots of hangers in your area. Come join us at the Frosty Butt Hang and meet some of the hangers in the area, good food, cave man TV, hiking trails. Held at Medoc Mt SP just a short drive from Raleigh. If you want to attend and you need to borrow some gear, let me know.

I think I might be ok, depends on temps. I guess I could always keep extra gear in the truck lol

Fellow Durmite here (Hwy 98/Falls Lake area). There's a couple of free, primitive campsites along the Falls Lake section of the MST. We should throw together a Triangle Hang this spring.

Edit - I should have specified that they are both hike-in sites. I think the one at possum track is only about 1/2 mile from the nearest trail head though....

That sounds amazing, I could do that ANYTIME. I live right at Carpenter Pond behind Brier Creek

I have a 12' Jackson and fish Jordan year round. As I said I've been trying to get a Kayak fish and hang thing together since last year. I can't backpack due to a bad back that's no longer load bearing, but I can still paddle. Try to make the Frosty Butt or Yates hang and we can discuss and make plans for spring.

Welcome from Cary! I'm with SteelPlayer in that we def need to get a Fish n' Hang together! Highly recommend coming to both the Frosty Butt Hang at MMSP in a couple weeks, as well as the Yates Place Hang. You'll meet some awesome people, see some awesome gear setups, and eat some awesome food! I'd also definitely be interested in a triangle hang or get together sometime. I work about 30 seconds away from the Reedy Creek Entrance to Umstead SP, so let me know if y'all plan anything!

Let me know when you guys want to do some kayak fishing, adding in the hammocks is an even better idea. I am over in Wake Forest and have not got my Tarpon 120 out in a while.

I plan on bringing my Kayak to the April Medoc state park hang, there is a 1.5 hour kayak trip you can do on the river.
