How do you find these camp locations? I have never heard of camp sites around that part of the lake.

I had no idea any of them were there either. I happened to discover them by volunteering for one of the MST workdays and got randomly assigned to do some work at the Ward family camp site.

The trail guide for section 10 from their web site lists all the campsites as well. It's easier to find them on the downloaded pdf trail guide than clicking on the links for the individual days hikes (the possum track campsite is not listed on the Day Hike "D" link but it is still listed on the downloaded pdf). The MST camps are primitive but all have picnic tables. The official sites for Possum Track are well back from the water but the closer you get to the water the more "campsites" you see that people have made on their own including some fire rings....I wonder if that is why the site is no longer listed on the day hike links.....

Hiked the trail frequently and section 4 is my favorite part. This campsite is not that old.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

That's crazy, I've been back in there a few times but never hiking the trail. I'm going to have to check this place out hopefully this weekend.

If you park at the Possum Track trailhead and walk toward Bayleaf on the trail you should see a sign on the right. Its not that far down the trail.

I am still on the fence about coming, if I do I will have my boys with me 5 & 7. Weather doesn't look like it's cooperating at the moment.

That link doesn't work for me. What's the name of the group hosting the hang?
