Has nobody tried to use an under tarp pole?
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

You can certainly use that type of pole mod, but we'd need to either create pockets on the inside of the tarp for you, or you'd need to get creative with some guy line. One of the downsides to an interior pole mod is, if that pole breaks, your tarp is likely going to get shredded. We much prefer an exterior pole mod for that reason. Dutch sells some great pole mod kits that work fantastically with our tarps.

    Harry, thanks for the feedback...

I made a pair of these for each of my silpoly tarps:

I have the single long internal pole that spans these large tarps but I also made a single over the ridge pole and could also use my trekking pole. Now that you mention it, I did have a pole snap but fortunately it was not installed when it let go.. I failed to slide the male/female ends together completely and it put too much force on the pole joint.

How do you feel about the over-the-ridge trekking pole resting right on the tarp ridge? I'd have to see where the flickloc on my DIT CF trekking poles lays relative to the ridge.. that would be a show stopper.
