Raven Zipper Length?

Considering ordering a Raven as a birthday present for my 13yr old son. My thought is that the removable net would be easier to repair or replace if needed. After volunteering at BSA summer camp last summer I have fully accepted that repair options need to always be considered for outdoor gear. I have impressed on my son the importance of zipping my hammock open far enough that neither the zipper or mesh are strained when getting in and out. So my question is how long is the zippered section of the Raven hammock?

I don't have mine in front of me at the moment. But if I had to guess, I'd say the zipper on the Raven ends about 20" shy of the gathered end on each side. If you open it too far, the zipper will come off the track at the end. They do offer snaps at the end to keep that from being an issue. Although, I never found it to be a problem after getting in and out a couple times.

The zipper they use is so smooth, I don't think there is much stress placed on it when opening/closing. In fact, I only unzip mine about 2 feet before just lifting the net to get out. I've had mine almost two years, and the zippers are still as good as new. The Raven is a fantastic hammock, and I'm sure your son would be very happy with it.

Not sure the length but the zipper moves easily and will slide as you get out. Should be no problem.
