    Batona Camp

I've been absent from Hammock Forums for quite awhile and figured I'd start a thread and say Hey. I've been winter Hammock camping the last few years and have really found my groove. This weekend will be my first weekend out since May, started getting a bit too warm for my liking. A two nighter down in Batona Camp across from the Carranza memorial. Should be a nice shakedown. A buddy is hammock camping off his Suzuki TW200 for the first time, sure hope he remembers everything. Whatever he forgets Ill have extra hopefully. Will write back and let you know how it goes.

Sausage hash for breakfast - the Best! lol
    Nathans hot dogs for lunch
    Bringhurst ribeye for dinner

Gin Rummy and domino's for entertainment

Sure, I'll take some pics. I've stayed there before and would rate it pretty solid for trees suitable for hammock hanging. A minor concern but all trees in the area are pine so sap on the tree straps is gonna happen. Adds character to your gear and grit to your hands!

Funny, I've been camping in the Pine Barrens for the last 10 years and have little, if any, pine sap on my tree straps. However, you're not the only one who worries about tree sap - Arrowhead even sells a sap sack for storing your sap-covered tree straps!

Same as Silvr. And, Batona has a mix of pine and some oak. Most sites are good for hammocks. Avoid sites 6 and 7. Most others can handle multiple hammocks.
