Ordered one for a hike next month. Just hope Sam will use it. Broke out his doggy back pack and it took both the The Terminator and me to get it on him and adjusted. Unless we were holding onto his color he would constantly turn in a circle to try and see what we were doing.

Ordered a pup tent for Sam ( our dog ). Wife said Sam grabbed the package off the table and tried to open it. Must have know it was his Dutch bling.

Let us know how he does in it after the first test. I had to train my dog to sit while attaching the front part of her dog pack. It's the step in kind, then I have her stand while I attach the back strap. She's a 110 lb dog..

Sam is a 120 lb dog. Wife and I got the pack adjusted, now just have to take him for a test hike with a loaded pack to make sure. Sam's new home is small enough he can carry it in his pack.

Maya has done well with her pack from the get go, I hope Sam does too. I'm hoping to hear about the Pup Tent. Is your dog use to a crate or kennel?

I'd like some feedback on my winter outing plan with my pup tent in a few days. I'm hoping to use my pup tent for the first time with my 85 lb lab who has a nice thick coat and enjoys long winter outings. Altough I get outside with her a lot, I've not done any overnight winter camping with her previously. Expected lows are 10-20 F. I'm planning to snowshoe with a pulk so I can carry a fair amount of gear. For my dog, I'm planning to take a a dog jacket, a synthetic apex quilt that is rated I think for about 50 degrees, and an all weather space blanket, which I think I'll put underneath the floor. I could also take about a 60 cm/2' section of 1/8" Gossamer Gear ccf pad. I think I could also clip my down jacket to the outside of the triangle to cover some of the net side. Is that overkill, underkill, or about right?

Not overkill at all to insure your fur baby will be warm and happy! When I took my sheep dog to the Mt Rogers hang in 20 degree weather she was fine during the day without her quilted dog coat because of her long thick fur. But at night when it dropped down into the teens I put it on her to sleep in and flipped up the collar. I also took this travel dog bed where I had made an opening in it where it's sewed together and put a piece of reflectix in between the layers. Before I sewed it back up I added some Velcro there so I can take the reflectix in & out as needed. It comes in a stuff sack and straps on her dog pack. I think it will fit well inside the Pup Tent.
