G'day from the land down under. I'm Ash from Victoria Australia. 24 years old and just got my first hammock yesterday. Went out bush today to test it out (no where suitable in the backyard and who doesn't love going bush for a few hours.) Loving it so far, never been any good at knots so hopefully this will make me better.

Definitely can via the app tapatalk...

Webview via phone. Top right of dialog box, press 3rd picture framed pic from the right, press insert pic from computer, press choose file, camera or documents then choose photo.....android phone.

Hey, Ash, welcome aboard from another Victorian!

A couple of quick tips:
1. While we know that our gum trees are pretty much indestructible, the people on this forum are pretty hot on using tree straps. Really easy to DIY with strapping from Lincraft.
2. Your hammock looks a bit tight. You’ll probably find it more comfortable with more of a sag.

To protect the trees, 25mm wide tie-down straps can be used for the time being....just tie a bowline in one end, wrap around the tree trunk a few times & pass the hook end through the bowline loop. Then tie your rope off to that.
Or sacrifice the hook by cutting if off, just add another bowline loop to that end, melt the cut edge with a lighter to stop fraying.

Hey everyone, finally got that knot undone

thanks for the advice on tree straps. Am I right in saying they are a seat belt like material? I have some seat belts laying around, might DIY some.

Hi, Ash, seat belt material would work but would definitely be overkill.

I made my own (well, I bought and cut, my wife sewed) from straps bought from Lincraft for a couple of dollars a metre.

Most people use 25mm (1-inch) width - a good compromise between tree protection and tieability.
