    at this point wouldn't it be cheaper to just larks head the flea on?

    Yes, continuous loop through Fleaz is good enough and cheaper. However, for continuous loop, at least 4 inches of bury is needed for the splicing of the line to make it strong enough. With soft shackle, the diameter of the loop can be as small as just half of the continuous loop’s.

    And... I am addicted to splicing.

    4 inches of bury on a tarp line?

    Are you sure that rule isn't for whoopies/Suspension and not Tarps?

    I know I've made simple 1.75mm Zing-It continuous loops that are the same finished diameter or smaller than the shackle shown above. But I also think the shackle is neat, so I say thumbs up!

    For maximum strength of dyneema rope, the recommended bury is 5 inch for 1.75mm, 8 inch for 2.5mm and 9 inch for 3mm.

    The shorter bury is no problem for tarp lines but it gives me the peace of mind with at least 4 inches of bury.
