    Newbie Tarp Question

    Hi all,

My question is simple. What kind of Tarp should I buy? Caternary cut or regular rectangel? Which is better? Which is preferred? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. If it helps Im currently a Clark NX-250 owner and am looking for a tarp that I can use for cooking and sitting under as well as additional coverage for my hammock if the need ever arrises due to weather.

Any info or advice you fine folks could offer would be really appreciated.

    cheers

IMO and my .02 worth...I think it depends on the season. How's that for a vague answer???

I have both. I have a Cat Cut that I use the majority of the time. It's 12' in ridgeline length and 10' side to side. Pleanty of room for cooking and dressing and keeps all the rain off. I have a Rectangle for winter. It has a little extra room and the ends close, but the biggest plus...it goes almost to the ground and I can pile leaves up to keep the wind from blowing underneath during the winter.

I think it ultimately ends up being personal choice. I am happy with both !

If you haven't already found them as of yet, Shug has done series for videos for the Hammock newbie in the last 10 days or so. The first 3 are sticky items at the top of this forum. The last 4 or 5 have been on tarps and how to hang them.

    Check them out.
