Cuben tarp for Hammock and/or ground

So I have MLD Cuben solo and duo Grace tarps for my ground sleeping and I also have hammock gears Hex and palace tarps for hanging.
Why does no one create a dual purpose Dyneema Fiber tarp? I'm a hammock sleeper for sure, but there could be times that I have to go to the ground.. And need my tarp for protection from inclement weather. I guess if I had to pitch my hex tarp in ground mode i could do it? I have not tried it yet, but maybe I will try and see. Has anyone experimented with this yet?? If the hex tarp had the grommets on ends, it would be simple with trekking poles no? any thoughts??

The Hammock Gear Cuben tarps can be used to "go to ground" just like any other tarps. Is it the lack of grommets that your asking about?

I've seen the HG Cuben tarps used in this fashion several times but it would have worked better if there were more tie outs in my opinion.

Thanks. If I get around to it this weekend, I will take some pictures and post them here along with my thoughts for anyone interested.

Are you going to experiment with both Hex and Palace? I'd be very interested to see what you come up with!

If I find the time, yes I will try with both. May as well see if I can do it rather then get caught out there and be screwed!!

A Dyneema tarp can be configured as a Whelan set up, a second Dyneema tarp can be set up back to back with the first Whelan. Now you have two tarps, each can be used for hammocks, each can be used as a ground shelter tarp, and both together can be used as the back-to-back Whelan set up. The Hyperlite Mountain Gear 8'x10' Dyneema DCF8 in Spruce Green would work out. You get what you pay for.

Two carbon fiber poles, one 5-foot, and one 4-foot. The excess triangles can be folded under, and the end doors brought in a bit, so the entire interior of the shelter has a dyneema floor covering. Mock it up and check it out, then cry for the monetary outlay.

We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

    Excellent.

Add something to button up the doors, and maybe another guyout point on the lower edge, and this could be a great winter ground tarp.
