Back in September I spoke to george in depth about me wanting to get involve in hammocking and with all the advice he gave me and spending countless hours on you tube as per his recommendation, I finally ordered my top and underquilt from him and received it for my second hang !
I am totally new to hammocking and last weekend was my 4th car camping hang which was a success!
First hang was on borrowed equipment and I froze with temps dipping down into the low 30's to mid 20's! I was totally new and did not know what to expect! I left in the middle of the night and returned the next morning just in time of a awesome breakfast!( Fortunately I was only 30 + miles from my house)
Now little about me: back in 2015 I had weight loss surgery and dropped 100 pounds and eventhough I feel fantastic the down side of weight loss surgery is that I am always cold! It's normal for a patient to always be cold and that is to be expected with weight loss surgery!
When I was 300 lbs I worked outside in the winter with a hoodie and temps never bothered me! Now I am always cold!
Based on me using twenty and zero degree equipment and still freezing at the first hang in October here in New Jersey and knowing the winter is not even here yet I ordered 40 below zero top and bottom quilt!
Call me crazy but this last hang last week was a low in the lower teens and I really appreciated the -40 degree equipment!
My equipment came in and I was able to check it out in my home! Knowing nothing about hammock quilts, I quickly noticed the quality and the craftsmanship put into the quilts! I could not wait to use them outside!
Second hang was our Thanksgiving group hang and I received my new equipment and I could not wait till I was time to go to bed!
We had a weather front come through and when it was over we received a total of 3 inches of rain with 60 miles per hour gust of wind. It was a rough! Luckily we had a group army tent where we all hung out and shot the breeze throughout the evening.
A hammocker came into the big tent and said who has the hammock with the orange quilts and I raised my hand. He said to me that my tarp blew off ! I couldn't believe it.
I said someone does not want me hammocking lol!
After realizing it was mine ,totally drenched, hammock filled with rain!
I packed up and went home!
Luckily George from loco Libre was there and helped me pack up in the pouring rain and gave me advice on drying out my equipment! I followed his advice and within 3 days everything was nice and dry.
Third hang...
I was not giving up!
Few days before Christmas ,three of us hung for a stormy weekend knowing it was going to be stormy it was the only way I was able to test all the equipment and to solve all the mistakes I made the past hangs!
40 mile per hour winds with 2 inches of rain and it was a total successful hang! We were fortunate to catch a break and the last day we were able to break down in the dry weather. One thing I learned was to increase the size of my tarp Stakes which worked out great.
Forth hang was this past weekend which was our Winter Group hang . I was very cold and actually I could not wait to get into my hammock . I was traveling from fire to fire depending on which one was the largest because I needed BTUs to keep warm socializing!
Time for bed and I was so comfortable and warm that I could really appreciate the decision that I made to get the 40 degree below zero's and choosing loco Libre equipment!
Bottom line: I am glad I chose loco Libre because of the quality!
Trust me it's worth the wait! If you plan on ordering a summer set, now is the time to beat the rush! Same for ordering your winter equipment in the summer not waiting until October!
I actually ordered a zero degree bottom quilt and a 20 degree top quilt for the summer!
My theory is I can always peel off if too hot!
Thank you Loco Libre for your honesty and craftsmanship!
Very happy with my purchase!
Please excuse any errors because I did this through voice to text!
