WB Mountainfly 20D

Just ordered the WB Mountainfly 20D Silpoly.

What do I need to do before taking it out? Anything special?

Going to be using a snakeskin mesh and Dutchware continous ridgeline and other hardware for the tie outs.

Continous Ridgeline, Over or Under the fly?

I prefer over the fly. I don’t have to worry about the line rubbing on the tarp. Also if it starts to rain you don’t have to worry about water running down the line and under your tarp.

I have a Thunderfly and it came with a small tube of sealer. WB has a video on the process: https://youtu.be/xPkeUkmHDRs

Apply the sealer as shown in the video. After the sealer is totally dry, I brushed on a small amount of non scented baby powder to keep the from sticking to each other. First use it drizzled 1st night and 2nd day. Steady rain on the 2nd night into the 3rd day. No leaks from the pullouts.

Continous Ridgeline, Over or Under the fly?

I think any concerns about wear from having the ridgeline under the tarp is a myth. The rain thing though is valid.

All that said I run it over! Mostly because I use mesh skins on my tarp and I store the tarp lines separately.

Running it under can minimize sagging, but I think that's over-rated too. The one time that running it under may actually make a significant difference is with snow.

I go over the ridge line except in Winter, then I go under for addition support in case it snows (or snow falls from a tree).
I'm not concerned water coming down the ridge line and under the tarp in the winter.

I got a mesh snake skin, I was thinking about leaving the tarp and ridge line together.

Would that not be ideal for deploying?
