    Newbie from Phoenix

    Hey everyone,

Glad to be here and learn from and share with you all. I’m a rookie hammock camper but not a hammock user. I’ve always had hammocks at camp but only for lounging and napping...I’ve never slept in one overnight or in the elements. I’m excited to though now that I am beginning to slowly get my gear list purchased for backpacking and camping.

I live north of Phoenix which is nice because when we want to beat the heat and head for the mountains in the summer we’re already an hour closer to out of town than many people. My favorite spots are along the Mogollion Rim and the Grand Canyon area as well as Williams AZ.

I am a DIY’er so I’ll be making as many things as I can, like my rain fly coming up, my mosquito net...and like the hammock stand I built last weekend.

Welcome to the forums. I’m sure that stand comes in handy in the desert.

Glad to have you aboard. My daughter currently lives in the Phoenix area and sends me pictures of some beautiful hiking spots.

Hi There: I see you mentioned Grand Canyon Hanging. I am taking a trip to Sedona AZ and plan on venturing to the South Rim from there. Any intel on the hanging opportunities around there would be welcome. If there aren't many places to hang my hammock in GCNP, I may just have to use the hammock exclusively at my AirBnB. First world problems, eh?
