    Chameleon vs DreamHammock? Other?

Hi All! I haven’t been active for quite a while as I’ve been relocating from the PNW to Colorado (mix emotions, but still mountains!)

I’ve got a DreamHammock Roaming Gnome. It’s great, however the hang angle (sag from ridge line) is a bit too much for me. It turns out I prefer less of an angle. I found this out while really enjoying a shallower angle when casually hanging in my ENO double in my yard.

Now I love everything about my DH...but the angle. The bugnet is a must (or a top cover?). Sadly I need a different hammock.

I’ve took an interest into the Chameleon for the bugnet and top cover option. (Thoughts?)

Does anyone know if the hang angle on the chameleon is any different/shallower than a DH?

(The blackbird seems more shallow as well. Anyone confirm?)

Thanks for any and all feedback, hangers!

i dont know much about dream hammocks, but could you just remove the SRL that it comes with and put your own, adjustable SRL on?

if thats doable, seems like the easiest/cheapest option

Both Dream Hammock and Dutch set the ridgeline at 83% of the hammock length. I would suggest making an adjustable ridgeline (basically a long whoopie sling) and swap it out.

    Hi Izraelius,
Your old RoamingGnome hammock (#798) is 4 years, 11 months, 16 days old and I'm glad to hear this one is still hanging in there.

Most any integrated net hammock you choose will have been built with a specific ridgeline length in mind and lengthening the ridgeline can put extra stress on the netting, risking damage.

You might consider going with our Raven hammock. We can customize the the net length to suit your needs and provide an adjustable ridgeline with the hammock that will allow you to dial in whatever length is comfortable for you. https://www.dreamhammock.com/Raven_custom.html

    Thanks
    Randy

Randy!! You’re amazing!! (and yes it has served me well and is in excellent condition still!)

I definitely knew adjusting the ridge line wasn’t an option due to the bugnet so I’ll definitely look at the Raven.

Good to know that the Raven can be made with a longer ridgeline! I'll order a shallow Raven in the not too distant future, then, because too much sag is my problem with most integrated hammocks (including the Chameleon) as well. I greatly prefer the WB ratio from ridgeline to hammock body. It gives me a much flatter lay.

Interesting! Do you know what ratio WB uses? I just assumed they all used the same 83%. What issue does the greater degree of sag create for you?
    Thanks

Their RL is 112" and I think they start with a 132" blank so the hammock is a bit shorter. Could be wrong on the latter, but I know the RL is 112"
