    Tarp stakes, good find

Found these today at my local Academy Sports store for $3.00. All four weigh in at 3oz. They appear to be the same as MSR Groudhogs, just $5 cheaper.

I have used the ground hogs for a few years now in both rocky and sometimes frozen ground. No problems at all.

But I like your find as I think I paid about $2-3 each for mine.

    Swoosh,

They seem very strong. I don't believe they'll be any issues with bending. But, I'll report once I use them.

Wow, it must be the week for finding stakes. I have some the MSR stakes picked up in Damascus last year. I haven't found the Coghlan's stakes you have found.

Several years ago I purchased some stakes which I liked very much, basic shepard hook shape but they had a twist to them and I've found them to hold well. No name on them and I did not remember where I got them. Likely Mountain State Outfitters who closed a few years ago after decades in business. I only know they are stamped England. I've been looking at the local sports places and on-line with no luck.

A few days ago someone posted they had found some tangle resistant mason line at Ace hw store. I go to the local Ace hw store looking for the line. They did not have the line but they did have the England made stakes. Turns out they were also a Coghlan's item. So several places which carry Coghlan stuff such as ****'s , Gander Mtn., Walmart and other sporting goods places with camping gear did not have them but the hw store did. Odd.

With your find of the tri-stakes and my find - I guess I'll have to raise my opinion of Coghlan's gear.
