Guys... it has clews at each end.
The fabric length plus the clews looks to be fairly standard.
My GEs have a load of fabric out beyond my head and feet... same diff.

I had one of the US mil-spec "jungle" hammocks when I was younger, and I don't remember it laying uncomfortably.
The problem is probably that the military expects its soldiers to carry much heavier pack weight than we think OK...

To be honest back in the late 90s my first hammock camping experience was in one of these. Although it wasn't the Hilton I knew I was headed in the right direction. For me it was better than a tent. I ended up doing some research and found the Lawson Blue Ridge, much nicer, but still not right for me. Eventually I did a gathered end and have been dialing in my ultimate comfort since. A couple DIYs and I just bought a "Thunderbird" to try. I wouldn't recommend the "army surplus style jungle hammock, better of with a cheap amazon gathered end as far as weight, cost, and comfort.

My experience, too small, can't lay flat, still need a tarp mine, was certainly not waterproof, heavy, and doesn't pack down well. I used mine on a Bikepacking trip so the weight wasn't that big a factor. Also they don't pack down that small.

Again IMHO, better off with cheap amazon gear if you are looking for cheap. Also get to a group hang and try out a few. I'm told this is the best way to find out what will work for you.
