75 dolors to rei. need ideas.

I recently obtained 3 25 dolor gift cards to rei. I would love to use that money to make my hammock camping possible. Right now i have a large tarp (made by frawg) and a hammock that i made myself. It is a gathered end made from a ten foot long one yard wide piece of rip-stop. The problem is that I don't know the weight of the fabric and think that it is too stretchy for my weight so a new hammock might be a good choice. I also need bug protection. I might however be able to make my own out of some rectangular bug nets that i already have. my other need is for under insulation. I don't really like pads but i can deal with them for a while i believe.

On their website right now they have eno and byer hammocks. any thoughts on the best hammock/bug net combo.

I can go up to 100 not including gift cards. but that would be a maximum.

Well if you wanted to go the easy route REI has Hennessey Hammocks now. This one should do you. Plus they have other things available if you want to piece it together.

i have never used a henesy but i think i would be more comfortable in a gathered end hammock and eventually moving to a black bird.

why dont you maybe try selling them. like have someone send you a paypal for say 50 bucks for example and then at the same time they'll use the codes on the gift cards for 50 bucks to purchase something at rei. this gives you cash in hand and flexibility and someone else who wants something from rei well it gives them rei cash.

I bought a eno doublenest. I love it. I don't have any experience with any other type of hammock. I've made some mods to my hammock, removing the rope that comes attached and replacing it with whopi-slings. The double nest is nice for multiple positions in the hammock because of the extra fabric. But it is the heaviest. I currently dont have a bug net, but am looking to DIY one.

gift cards to me are to be used for items i normally wouldn't buy with my own money. so i'd get this if i were you (and you didn't already have it)

    http://www.rei.com/product/708071

i'd then get this book by the MAN

    http://www.rei.com/product/703555

then i'd spend the other $15 on some cool socks or the new stainless steel bottle by nalgene with the guyot designs lid

the snow peak sounds like a good idea. i may also buy a new sleeping bag as the one i have is fairly cheep heavy and bulky then i could convert this one into a uq.
